ANTONIO BAHAMONDE RIONDA
My research activity has focused on Machine Learning, especially in applications to different fields such as livestock, food, health and bioinformatics. The techniques used have varied over the years but have always had a strong formal support as Support Vector Machines (SVM) or matrix factorization algorithms. Today, my interests on the application of these techniques focus the challenge of handling large volumes of data (Big Data). In particular problems involving generating a ranking over some kind of objects. This is the case with many interesting problems such as modeling the preferences of consumers or users of a service. Applications include recommendation systems and the assessment of open response questions in assignments in massive open online courses (MOOCs).
My most relevant publications are described below. But they would have to add my participation as a speaker at conferences as ICML, NIPS, ECML, IJCAI, and ECAI. In several of these conferences I have served many times in their Program Committees.
During my career I have held management positions in scientific associations. I have been President of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA) and I am now the Vice President of the Scientific Computer Society of Spain (SCIE).
Finally, I want to emphasize that from 2013 I am the ANEP (National Agency of Evaluation) Area Coordinator Computer Science and Information Technology.
