    Brief CV:

I have been working in the area of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oviedo since September 1992. In addition to teaching tasks, I started to research within the Artificial Intelligence Center with Professor Antonio Bahamonde, which ultimately became director of my doctoral thesis.

I have been part of the research team in several research projects and contracts with private companies, primarily related to animal breeding of cattle breeds. The application of artificial intelligence techniques to the world of meat production resulted in my doctoral thesis presented in 2009 with the title: Learning functions able to assess preferences applied to the assessment of meat production of the "Asturiana de los Valles" breed.

The work carried out in these research projects and contracts has resulted in papers that were presented at important conferences, such as ICML or ECML, and published in journals in relevant positions of JCR in their field, such as "Computers and Electronics in Agriculture" or "Animal Genetics".

Currently I'm working on using matrix factorization techniques for predicting growth curves of beef cattle adapted to the specific description of each animal. In addition, we try to use this technique for the early identification of groups of animals with common characteristics, mainly in terms of its growth potential.
